HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College softball seniors Jocelyn Leal and Addie Sapirstein have been named to the 2026 Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (PhillySIDA) Academic All-Area Softball Team, as announced by the organization Wednesday morning.
The PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team is voted on by sports information offices from 30 institutions in the Philadelphia region. To be eligible, student-athletes must be in at least their second year at their current college or university and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.
Leal capped off a stellar career with another outstanding season in the middle infield, earning All-Centennial Conference Second Team honors. She batted .405, the second-highest mark on the team, while tallying 51 hits, 39 runs scored, 28 RBI, and 11 doubles. Leal ranked among the Centennial Conference leaders in numerous offensive categories, including batting average, on-base percentage (.480), slugging percentage (.519), OPS (.999), runs scored, hits, RBI, and doubles. One of the conference's most disciplined hitters, she struck out just twice all season while leading the Centennial Conference and ranking tied for fifth nationally with 13 sacrifice bunts. Defensively, Leal recorded 61 assists and helped turn three double plays. Her top offensive performance came in a victory over Wilkes on April 11 when she went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI, while she also posted three hits and scored three runs against Blackburn on March 13.
Sapirstein added another distinguished accolade in her career after putting together one of the most productive seasons on the roster. An All-Centennial Conference First Team selection in the outfield, she hit .402 with 49 hits, 34 runs scored, 23 RBI, and a team-leading 20 stolen bases. Her 20 steals ranked sixth in the Centennial Conference, while her 49 hits were ninth among conference players. Sapirstein added five doubles and three triples during the season and recorded four games with at least three hits. One of her best performances came against Gettysburg on May 2 when she finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored, an RBI, a stolen base, and a double. Defensively, Sapirstein anchored center field with 72 putouts and a .982 fielding percentage, providing a reliable presence throughout the season.
Lilly Goldberg of Swarthmore was selected as the 2025-26 PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Softball Performer of the Year. Joining Goldberg, Leal, and Sapirstein on the Academic All-Area Team are Emily Ammon of Neumann, Iris Barone and Avery McClure of Swarthmore, Danielle Ciliberto and Mairead Hopkins of West Chester, Kate Evick and Emily McCutcheon of Rowan, Maranda Runco of Villanova, and Liv Stevens of Jefferson.
