Five From Softball Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Five standout members of the Haverford College softball team have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom and on the field, earning spots on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Haverford softball student-athletes earning the award in 2026 are Addie Sapirstein, Kyra Van Denburgh, Jocelyn Leal, Kaleigh Bodak, and Abby Litchfield.

Sapirstein, a Kirkland, Washington, native, earned All-Centennial Conference First Team honors for the first time after putting together one of the most dynamic offensive seasons on the roster. She hit .402 (third on team) with 49 hits (fourth), 34 runs scored (T-second), 23 RBI, and a team-best 20 stolen bases. Known as a disruptive force on the basepaths, her 20 steals ranked sixth in the Centennial Conference, while her 49 hits placed ninth.

Sapirstein native also added power and versatility with five doubles and three triples (T-third on team). She recorded four games with at least three hits, including a standout performance against Gettysburg (May 2), going 3-for-5 with three runs scored, an RBI, a stolen base, and a double. Defensively, Sapirstein collected 72 putouts with a .982 fielding percentage while serving as a steady presence in center field.

Van Denburgh, of Guilderland, New York, established herself as one of the conference's premier defensive standouts, anchoring the infield with a team-high 92 assists, which ranked third in the Centennial Conference. Her 52 putouts ranked among the top totals for Haverford's middle infielders, while she also turned two double plays. Despite the high volume of opportunities at shortstop, she consistently handled one of the conference's most demanding defensive workloads.

Offensively, she native started all 41 games, hitting .319 with 43 hits (T-fifth on team), 25 RBI, and 12 walks (third on team). She also ranked within the top 10 in the Centennial Conference in sacrifice bunts (10, T-third) and sacrifice flies (3, T-sixth), while her 138 at-bats ranked fifth in the conference. Van Denburgh also earned All-CC Honorable Mention recognition in addition to a Gold Glove award. Her season featured several standout performances, including a 3-for-6, four-RBI effort against Utica (March 9) and a well-rounded showing against Muhlenberg (April 21), where she recorded two hits, a home run, and two RBI while adding 12 assists defensively across the doubleheader.

Leal, of Bradenton, Florida, capped off a stellar career with another elite offensive campaign. She hit .405 (second on team) with 51 hits (second), 39 runs scored (first), 28 RBI (T-third), and 11 doubles (T-first). Leal ranked among the Centennial Conference's top performers in numerous categories, including batting average (seventh), on-base percentage (.480, seventh), slugging percentage (.519, 10th), OPS (.999, ninth), runs scored (second), hits (fifth), RBI (T-seventh), and doubles (T-fourth).

She also demonstrated elite discipline and situational hitting, striking out just twice all season while leading the conference and ranking T-fifth nationally in sacrifice bunts (13). Defensively, Leal recorded 61 assists (second on team) and turned three double plays. Her top performance came in a win over Wilkes (April 11), when she went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. She also tallied three hits and three runs scored against Blackburn (March 13), consistently setting the tone with multiple multi-hit efforts throughout the season.

Bodak, of Killingworth, Connecticut, earned All-Centennial honors for the first time in her career after leading the pitching staff with 77.2 innings pitched (first on team), 11 wins, and 46 strikeouts. She posted a 3.06 ERA while holding opponents to a .230 batting average, the lowest among Haverford's primary starters. Within the Centennial Conference, Bodak ranked T-third in wins and fourth in opponent batting average, while also placing among the conference leaders in innings pitched, underscoring her durability and effectiveness throughout the season.

Bodak native delivered several dominant outings, including a complete-game one-hit shutout against Muhlenberg (May 2). Earlier in the season, she struck out a season-high seven batters in a complete-game shutout against Wesleyan (March 10) and allowed just two hits over 6.1 innings in a shutout victory against DeSales (March 26).
