HAVERFORD, Pa. — The No. 35 Haverford College women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day in dominant fashion, sweeping Centennial Conference foe Gettysburg, 7–0, on Saturday at Alumni Field House. Prior to the match, the Fords honored seniors Abhi Menon, Sriya Krishnan, and Erika Phanord for their contributions to the program over the past four seasons.
The Scarlet and Black set the tone early in doubles play, securing the point with three convincing victories. Sophie Capone and Menon were first off the court, blanking Harper Wood and Emma Ward, 6–0, at second doubles. Jolie Zink and Aarti Prochnow quickly followed with a 6–1 win over Arina Zhelyaskova and Gabriella Mazzeo at first doubles to clinch the point. Krishnan and Phanord capped the sweep with a 6–3 triumph against Claire Carroccio and Lindsay Paullin.
Haverford carried its momentum into singles play, where the Fords methodically worked through the lineup to secure the sweep. Zink set the tone early, cruising to a 6–0, 6–2 victory over Mazzeo at first singles to give the Scarlet and Black a 2–0 lead.
Shortly after, Capone kept the momentum rolling with a 6–1, 6–2 victory over Ward, while Menon dispatched Levkov, 6–3, 6–1, to give the home crowd another reason to cheer on Senior Day, securing the match-clinching point.
Kreutel then delivered the most dramatic match of the afternoon at second singles, outlasting Zhelyaskova in a tightly contested opening-set tiebreak, 7–6 (8–6), before pulling away for a 6–1 second-set win. Phanord continued the momentum with a dominant 6–1, 6–1 victory against Carroccio, and Krishnan capped the run with a 6–0, 6–2 win over Meaghan Dougherty.
Haverford returns to action next weekend as it continues Centennial Conference play with a Hood Trophy matchup at No. 16 Swarthmore on Wednesday, April 1. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
