NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The No. 35 Haverford College women's tennis team (3-3) wrapped up play at the Natalie Pitts Memorial Invitational with a 6-1 setback to No. 15 Tufts (7-1) on Sunday morning at the Eyre Courts on the campus of Christopher Newport University.

Haverford was strong in doubles against the Jumbos, taking the early advantage with wins at first and second doubles. Kyra McCandless and Alyssa Khou opened with a 6-0 win for Tufts over Sophie Capone and Mallika Reddy at third doubles, but Jolie Zink and Aarti Prochnow responded with a 6-4 victory against Claudia Grove and Melanie Woodbury at first doubles. Adelaide Kreutel and Abhi Menon then sealed the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Athena Li and Brooklyn Bindas at second doubles.

From there, the Jumbos showcased their depth, sweeping all six singles matches to clinch the team victory. Tufts quickly evened the match at first singles, where Lucy Mitchell earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Zink. At fifth singles, McCandless followed with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Capone, giving Tufts its first lead of the contest.

The momentum continued as Rachel Cranley delivered a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Prochnow at second singles, while Ellie Gershaw secured a 6-0, 6-3 win against Kreutel at third singles to clinch the match for Tufts.

At fourth singles, Natalie Hu led Reddy 6-2, 4-0 before earning the victory by opponent retirement. The final match on court saw Ryan Wuhrman complete the singles sweep with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Menon at sixth singles, to lock up the 6-1 victory for the Jumbos.
