Baseball Earns 10-5 Victory Over Stockton

HAVERFORD, Pa. — The Haverford College baseball team (5-6) used a big second inning and clutch hitting throughout to secure a 10–6 victory over Stockton (4-6) in its 2026 home opener on Friday afternoon at Kannerstein Field.

The Fords were led offensively by Miles Prusek, who went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk, while Cole Roman delivered a standout performance, finishing 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a double. Jackson Sgro added a two-RBI single, and Jack Phiel contributed a two-run homer while reaching base four times. Will Schroen drove in two runs, while Sam Schaeffer crossed the plate twice. On the mound, Miles Flack earned the victory with three shutout innings of relief, allowing just one hit and striking out one.

Haverford wasted no time jumping in front, erupting for six runs in the second inning. Schroen got the scoring started after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing home Schaeffer. Sgro followed with a two-run single to center, plating Mauro DeCillis and Roman. Moments later, Prusek launched a three-run home run to right field, scoring Sgro and Schroen to give the Scarlet and Black a commanding 6–0 lead.

Stockton responded in the third inning, cutting into the deficit with a two-run home run from Nick Avagnano before adding another run on a bases-loaded walk to make it 6–3.

However, the Fords answered right back in the bottom half of the frame, as Phiel connected on a two-run homer to left-center (his first-career home run), scoring Roman and extending the lead to 8–3.

The Ospreys continued to chip away in the fourth inning, scoring twice on a sacrifice fly and a bases-loaded walk to trim the margin to 8–5.

After several quiet innings, Haverford added key insurance runs in the seventh. Schroen reached on a fielder's choice that brought in a run, while a throwing error on the same play allowed two more runs to cross the plate, pushing the advantage to 10–5.

Stockton added a final run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly, but the Fords, with Ethan Goldstein on the hill, closed the door from there to seal the 10–6 victory.

The Scarlet and Black will next travel to Salisbury, Md. for a two-game clash with No. 5 Salisbury. First pitch of game one is slated for 12 p.m.
