No. 30 Men's Squash Defeats No. 32 Vassar, Falls to No. 21 Rochester at Liberty League Championships

CANTON, N.Y. – The No. 31 Haverford College men's squash team (5-11) split its matches on Saturday at the Liberty League Championships inside the Robie Squash Center on the campus of St. Lawrence University. The Fords earned a 6–3 victory over No. 32 Vassar before dropping an 8–1 decision to No. 21 Rochester.

In the first flight, Aaryaman Jaising kicked off the Fords' strong performance with an 11–2, 11–6, 16–14 win over Matthew Okulski in a hard-fought three-game match. In the second flight, Konstantinos Georgallides responded for Vassar with a 12–10, 12–10, 11–9 victory over Henry Jiang. Third flight action saw Kyle Benson add another point for Vassar, defeating Ben Levy 11–8, 11–3, 11–7, 11–9.

The Brewers regained momentum in the fourth flight, with Aqeel Merchant defeating Kai Thomas Schinaman in a thrilling five-game match, 7–11, 11–7, 11–7, 7–11, 14–12. In the fifth flight, Jet Li swept Gabriel Lugo 11–8, 11–6, 11–2, while the sixth flight saw Qianzhi Zhao overcome Razaan Lalji 11–3, 12–10, 11–6. Advait Chandramouli followed with an 11–8, 11–4, 11–8 victory over Julian Cardenas in the seventh flight, and Dean Ibrahim secured another point in the eighth flight, defeating Alexander Thorn 11–4, 11–1, 11–4.

Haverford capped the ladder in the ninth flight, as Nevin Mital defeated Joseph Donato 11–9, 11–1, 11–2 to seal the 6–3 victory.


#21 Rochester 8, #3 Haverford 1

At the top of the ladder, Gilberto Noe Aceves Moreno set the tone for Rochester with a straight-game win over Aaryaman Jaising, 11–3, 11–4, 11–2. In the second flight, Dhirren Rajarathinam followed with an 11–1, 11–9, 11–2 victory against Ben Levy, while Thomas Valderrama continued Rochester's strong start in the third flight, defeating Kai Thomas Schinaman 11–8, 11–6, 11–7.

Rochester maintained control in the middle flights, with Kareem Azzam taking the fourth flight 11–4, 11–7, 11–7 over Jet Li. Arjith Mathew continued the run in the fifth flight, posting an 11–3, 11–7, 11–6 win over Qianzhi Zhao, and Karim Moataz dominated the sixth flight with an 11–4, 11–5, 11–8 victory against Advait Chandramouli. Vandrick Inman-Benavente kept the momentum rolling in the seventh flight, outlasting Dean Ibrahim in four games, 6–11, 13–11, 12–10, 11–9.

In the eighth flight, Preston Wu added to Rochester's advantage with a 3–1 win over Nevin Mital, 11–9, 6–11, 11–7, 11–9. Haverford earned its lone point in the ninth flight, as Francis Betkowski closed out the match with a 3–0 sweep of Sam Knoll, 11–6, 11–8, 11–6.

The Fords will wrap up the Liberty League Championships on Sunday, February 15, at 9:00 a.m., taking on No. 28 Denison in the third-place match.
