HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College volleyball senior captain Kira Chaney has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the Fords' back row during a perfect 2-0 week in conference play.
Chaney totaled 38 digs across seven sets, averaging 5.43 digs per set while adding eight assists and a service ace as Haverford extended its winning streak to four matches.
The junior opened the week with 17 digs in Wednesday's 3-1 road victory over Ursinus, reaching the 1,000-career-dig milestone. She followed with a match-high 21 digs in Saturday's sweep of Gettysburg, helping the Scarlet and Black secure their first sweep of the Bullets since 2016 and first victory over Gettysburg since 2021.
Chaney previously earned the conference's defensive weekly honor on Nov. 11, 2025, following a 51-dig week that helped Haverford secure the No. 3 seed in the Centennial Conference tournament. Chaney now has 1,035 career digs, including 222 this season.
Haverford, currently 36th in the latest NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings, will return to action on Wednesday with a home contest against Washington College inside Gooding Arena. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
