HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford men's cross country first-year Simon Lane (Chicago, Ill.) has been named the Centennial Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for September 23 after an impressive performance on his home course at the Main Line Invitational on Friday.
Lane ran 19 minutes, 54.4 seconds over four miles to place eighth overall in a deep field that included Division I and II competition. He was the top Division III finisher, edging out a pair of Penn runners with a strong closing kick.
Led by Lane, the Fords posted a strong team showing, finishing ahead of Division II No. 22 Shippensburg, along with Division I programs Lehigh and NJIT, and Division III rivals Widener and Muhlenberg.
Haverford now returns to action on Friday, October 3, at the Paul Short Run, one of the largest meets of the season, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The first race begins at 9:30 a.m.
