HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's cross country team has been picked to finish second in the Centennial Conference in 2025, according to a preseason release from the conference office on Tuesday morning.
Johns Hopkins, the reigning Centennial Conference champion, were selected first overall with 60 points and six first-place votes. The Fords followed in second with 54 points and one first-place vote, while Dickinson earned the remaining two first-place votes and totaled 53 points to place third. Swarthmore (42 points) and Ursinus (31 points) rounded out the top five. Gettysburg was sixth with 30 points, followed by McDaniel (23 points), Franklin & Marshall (19 points), and Muhlenberg (12 points).
With the departures of 2024 NCAA Championship qualifiers Reza Eshghi and Peter LaRochelle, the Scarlet and Black will look to a strong core of returners in 2025. Leading the way will be 2023 NCAA qualifier and USTFCCCA All-Region honoree Micah Lachman, entering his senior season, along with junior co-captain Luke De Valpine. The Fords will also be boasted by a large crop of 16 incoming first-year runners looking to make an impact on the historic program.
Haverford opens its season with the annual Alumni/Open Race on Saturday, September 6, followed by the Main Line Invitational on Friday, September 19. Both races begin at 5:30 p.m. at the newly christened Fran Rizzo Cross Country Course on Haverford's campus.
The Centennial Conference Championship will be hosted by Gettysburg College on Saturday, November 1.
