HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's volleyball team was selected to finish fifth in the Centennial Conference, according to the 2025 preseason coaches' poll released Thursday morning by the conference office.
Johns Hopkins, aiming for its ninth straight Centennial Conference Championship, was tabbed first with nine first-place votes and 99 points. Swarthmore followed in second with the remaining two first-place votes and 87 points. Franklin & Marshall checked in at third with 83 points, while Gettysburg (77) and Haverford (63) rounded out the top five.
Ursinus was sixth with 51 points, followed by Dickinson (46), Muhlenberg (40), and Washington College (30) in seventh through ninth. McDaniel (19) and Bryn Mawr (10) completed the preseason poll in 10th and 11th, respectively.
The Scarlet and Black will look to build upon their 2024 season, which marked the program's 20th Centennial Conference Tournament appearance in the past 23 years. Leading the way is junior outside hitter Gia Frank, who is coming off a breakout sophomore campaign. In 2024, Frank earned AVCA All-Region 5 Honorable Mention and Centennial Conference Second Team honors after ranking seventh in the league with a .303 hitting percentage. She totaled 266 kills against just 66 errors on 661 attempts, while also contributing 59 blocks on the defensive end.
Frank posted double-digit kills in 12 matches, highlighted by a 17-kill performance in the Centennial Conference Championship First Round against Gettysburg on November 13. She also tallied a career-high seven blocks in that same playoff match.
Haverford opens its 2025 season at home with the Haverford Invitational on Friday, August 29, and Saturday, August 30. The Fords will face Lebanon Valley (3 p.m.) and Stockton (7 p.m.) on opening day before matching up with Union (N.Y.) (11 a.m.) and Wheaton (Mass.) (1 p.m.) on Saturday.
