HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team swept Washington College 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Bramall Courts, earning its fourth Centennial Conference win of the season behind a dominant display in both singles and doubles play for a 7-0 blanking of the Shorewomen at the Bramall Courts.

The Fords (6-4, 4-1 CC) claimed the doubles point after a tight finish on court one. Haverford's Lucy King and Abhishree Menon struck first with a 6-1 win over Sofia Sperandei and Carrie Lord at No. 2 doubles. Washington College (5-5, 2-1 CC) responded on court three, where Jayda Browne and Isabella Sorhegui edged out Caroline Gay and Erika Phanord, 6-4. The deciding match came down to court one, where the newly-minted No. 10 pairing in the Atlantic South, Rachael Fitzgerald and Mallika Reddy, outlasted Eva Kading and Soleil Namunyola in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5), giving Haverford a 1-0 lead heading into singles action.

Momentum stayed firmly with the Fords as they swept all six singles matches. Fitzgerald opened the singles slate with a commanding 6-0, 6-3 victory over Namunyola at the top spot. King followed with a near-flawless performance at No. 2, defeating Kading 6-1, 6-0. Reddy continued the dominant trend with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Sorhegui on court three to clinch the match.

The match continued at No. 6 singles, where Gay turned in a confident 6-2, 6-1 effort against Gaby Coutts. Menon followed suit with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sperandei at the fifth flight, while Phanord closed out the afternoon by taking down Browne 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4.

Haverford, ranked No. 9 in the Atlantic South region, will look to build on its momentum Friday, April 11, when the Fords return home to face No. 25 Christopher Newport at 4 p.m. in non-conference action.
