No. 16 Men's Tennis Rolls Past No. 48 Washington College, Extending Streak to 11

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The 16th-ranked Haverford College men's tennis team (12-2, 4-0 CC) extended its winning streak to 11 matches with a commanding road victory over No. 48 Washington College (9-7, 3-2 CC). The Fords dropped the doubles point but stormed back to sweep all six singles flights against the Shoremen.

The hosts claimed the opening doubles point as Sihoo Kim and Tiziano Chialva defeated James McKenzie and Justin Minerva, 6-1. At third doubles, the duo of Teo Bortan and Zach Miano was edged by Jorge Urgal and Demir Isiker, 7-5, clinching the doubles point for Washington College. Haverford salvaged a win at second doubles, with Marko Arboleda and Owen Kilmer prevailing over Oskar Wroblewski and Aaradith Ravichandran in a tiebreaker, 7-5 (8-6).

In singles action, Kilmer put Haverford on the board with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Isiker at the No. 3 flight. Arboleda followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Kim at No. 1 singles to give the Fords a 2-1 lead. Chait Krishna then added a point at the No. 5 flight, defeating David Kohl Perkins, 6-4, 6-1.

Niki Lavu delivered the clinching point for Haverford at No. 4 singles, outlasting Urgal in a tight contest, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). McKenzie contributed the Fords' fifth point with a hard-fought three-set win over Ravichandran. After taking the first set, 6-4, McKenzie dropped the second by the same score before rebounding to take the third, 6-2.

At No. 6 singles, senior Danny Loder dropped the first set to Julian Sealy in a tiebreaker but bounced back with a 6-2 second-set win. Loder then dominated the super tiebreaker, 10-1, to complete the singles sweep.

Haverford now faces a quick turnaround, with another nationally ranked opponent on the horizon. The Fords return to action Friday at 3 p.m. for a Hood Trophy showdown against No. 12 Swarthmore at the Bramall Courts.
