Women's Tennis Sweeps Dickinson 7-0 on Senior Day at Alumni Field House

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team (7-5, 5-1 CC) blanked visiting Dickinson (9-4, 3-2 CC) by a score of 7-0 on Saturday morning. The match, which took place in the Alumni Field House due to wet weather, was preceded by a Senior Day ceremony honoring Rachael Fitzgerald.

The team of Fitzgerald and Mallika Reddy, the 10th ranked pairing in the Atlantic South, kicked off doubles play with a 6-0 victory over Dickinson's Jenna Crain and Natasha Sharnoff on court one. Lucy King and Abhishree Menon then clinched the doubles point for the Fords on court two with a 6-1 win over Alisa Steele and Loretta Szych. To round out doubles play, the pairing of Caroline Gay and Erika Phanord defeated Izzy Desjardins and Chloe Heller, 6-2, on court three to complete the doubles sweep for the Scarlet and Black.

To begin singles play, Menon kept up her winning ways by dismissing Szych 6-2, 6-1, on court five for the Fords' second point of the day. On court six, Gay prevailed swiftly over Anabelle Armendarez 6-3, 6-2, for Haverford's third point, before Reddy clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Sharnoff on court three.

On court two, King secured the Fords' fifth point with a 6-0, 6-1, victory over Steele. Phanord followed with a 6-3, 6-3, win against Heller on court four to add point number six on the day. Fitzgerald, ranked No. 20 in the Atlantic South, then sealed the 7-0 sweep over the Red Devils with a 6-4, 6-3, victory against Crain in the top flight.

The women's tennis team will now head to Collegeville, Pa., for its next matchup, as the Fords take on the Ursinus Bears on Tuesday, April 15, at 4 p.m.
