HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College sophomore middle blocker Fiona Moord (Maple City, Mich.) was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a standout performance in a 2-0 week for the Fords, highlighted by a win over seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins.
Moord totaled 11 blocks (1.57 per set) and three digs across the two matches. After posting two blocks and two digs in a 3-0 sweep of Bryn Mawr, she delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, recording a game-high nine blocks and one dig in a 3-1 victory over the No. 7 Blue Jays. The upset win clinched Haverford's third consecutive playoff berth.
This is Moord's second Defensive Player of the Week honor this season, as she also earned the award on September 3 after being named tournament MVP at the Haverford Invitational with 22 total blocks over four matches.
Moord continues to lead the Centennial Conference with 95 total blocks. Nationally, she ranks 29th in NCAA Division III in total blocks and 28th in blocks per set (1.10). As a team, Haverford ranks 30th in the nation in blocks per set (2.08).
Behind an energetic Senior Day crowd, Haverford handed Johns Hopkins its first Centennial Conference loss of the season and first defeat to Haverford since 2013, snapping the Blue Jays' 11-match winning streak and securing the Fords' highest-ranked win in the AVCA poll era.
