Three Fords Collect All-CC Volleyball Honors; Cella Earns Rookie of the Year

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College volleyball team was well represented on the Centennial Conference's postseason awards release on Tuesday afternoon, with first-year Elizabeth Cella (Atlanta, Ga.) earning Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year honors while also taking home a spot on the All-Centennial Conference first team.

In addition to Cella's honors, sophomore Fiona Moord (second team) and junior Gia Frank (honorable mention) also took home All-Conference designation. Cella becomes the program's first recipient of the award since teammate Kira Chaney earned the honor in 2023 and just the third Haverford player to garner Rookie of the Year recognition.

She turned in one of the Centennial Conference's most productive first-year campaigns in recent memory, ranking second in the league in total points (414), third in points per set (3.94), second in total kills (361), and fifth in kills per set (3.44).

A consistent presence, Cella delivered double-digit kills in 21 matches. She posted a season-high 21 kills on two occasions — first in a five-set win over Scranton on Sept. 6, then again during a five-set postseason victory against Dickinson on Nov. 12, when she also tallied a season-best 25.5 points in the Centennial Conference tournament triumph. Cella showcased standout efficiency during the heart of league play, hitting .406 with 14 kills against Franklin & Marshall on Oct. 4, adding 18 kills against Muhlenberg on Oct. 8, and producing 35 combined kills in a tri-match with Dickinson and Kean on Oct. 25. Defensively, she was a dependable two-way contributor, finishing with 264 digs, an average of 2.51 per set, to cap a true all-around standout rookie season.

Moord, of Maple City, Mich. was one of the most feared players at the net this season, as she established herself as one of the premier blockers in the Centennial Conference and the nation during the 2025 season. Moord finished the campaign ranked first in the conference and 30th in the nation with 113 total blocks. Her average of 1.08 blocks per set ranked second in the Centennial and 34th nationally. Moord's dominance at the net was a key factor for the Fords, anchoring a team defense that led the conference and ranked 24th in the nation with 228 total blocks. The team also ranked 19th nationally with 2.17 blocks per set.She recorded a season-high 10 blocks in a five-set victory over Scranton on Sept. 6. Moord posted nine-block efforts in wins over NCAA tournament teams Stevens (Aug. 30) and No. 7 Johns Hopkins (Nov. 1). Offensively, she contributed 182 kills on .230 hitting, averaging 1.73 kills per set, including a season-best 14 kills against Widener on Sept. 10.

Frank, of Van Nuys, Calif., provided a strong showing for Haverford in 53 sets played over the season. She proved to be an efficient attacker, compiling 107 total kills on a .270 hitting percentage while averaging 2.02 kills per set. Frank's top all-around performance came against Misericordia on Nov. 8, when she registered a season-high 12 kills on .308 hitting and added 5 total blocks. She also posted nine kills on .389 hitting at Muhlenberg (Oct. 8) and nine kills on a .467 clip against McDaniel (Oct. 11). At the net, Frank contributed 34 total blocks, averaging 0.64 blocks per set. Her season-high of six blocks came in the match at Muhlenberg in October.

In addition to the All-Conference honors, junior setter and defensive specialist Dasha Igonin (Belleville, Mich.) was named to the Centennial Conference's All-Sportsmanship Team. Igonin appeared in 74 sets with 216 assists and 109 digs, averaging 2.92 assists per set and 1.47 digs per frame.

Simone Adam of Johns Hopkins earned Player of the Year, while the Defensive Player of the Year nod went to Melissa Eyer of Swarthmore. Franklin & Marshall's coaching staff took home the Coaching Staff of the Year award.

Haverford concluded the season with a 19-9 record, the most wins since the 2021 team went 24-6. The Fords went 7-3 in conference play, including a monumental victory over No. 7 Johns Hopkins on Senior Day and a home sweep of rival Swarthmore, hosted the first round of the Centennial tournament for the first time since 2019, and reached the Centennial Conference semifinals for the first time since that 2021 campaign.
