LANCASTER, Pa. - The 28th-ranked Haverford College men's squash team (0-3) continued play at the Pennsylvania State Classic on Saturday afternoon inside the courts at the Lancaster Country Day School. Haverford fell by a 7-2 final to No. 23 Chatham in the morning matchup before a tense battle with No. 27 Dickinson, with the Red Devils escaping with a 5-4 victory.

The Fords showed their mettle at the bottom of the ladder against the Cougars, with Francis Betkowski earning a sweep at the seventh flight to highlight the morning match for the Fords. Betkowski swept Keyel Beasely 11-8, 11-6, 11-6. Elsewhere for Haverford, rookie Advait Chandramouli took his opponent Brett Poles to five games before falling 11-9, 6-11, 3-11, 11-6, 11-9. Rookie Jet Li also won a game at the third flight, taking the third game from Abdelrahman Sadek of Chatham.Â
No. 27 Dickinson 5, No. 28 Haverford 4
Going up against a potent Dickinson lineup, the Fords again showed their depth was a huge strength with wins at the fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth flights on Saturday to lead the way in a close result against the Red Devils. At flight five, Qianzhi Zhao cruised to a 3-0 win over Gerardo Ortiz (11-7, 11-2, 11-8), while Flight 6's Chandramouli followed with a 3-0 victory against Cormac Sullivan (11-7, 11-2, 11-5). At seven, Betkowski battled through four games to defeat James Kiracofe 3-1 (14-12, 11-4, 7-11, 11-9).
Flight eight saw Arvin Krishnan take Derek Du to five games but ultimately fall 3-2 (11-6, 8-11, 6-11, 11-6, 11-6), and rookie Dean Ibrahim came through with a decisive 3-0 win over George Vollmer (11-4, 11-7, 11-5) at the ninth flight.Â
