Volleyball Earns 3-0 Sweep Over Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Haverford College volleyball team (14-8, 5-3 CC) defeated Bryn Mawr (3-16, 0-8 CC) in straight sets, 25-12, 25-10, 25-11, on Wednesday evening at the Class of 1958 Gymnasium. Haverford's serving was a key factor, as the Fords tallied 15 aces. First-year Elizabeth Cella notched a career high with seven service aces. Haverford hit .313 for the match while holding Bryn Mawr to a negative hitting percentage and committed just one error in the closeout third set.

Haverford opened the match with a 4-0 lead, fueled by a kill from Gia Frank and a service ace from Eliana Brown. Bryn Mawr briefly tied the score at 5-5 before the Fords unleashed a 6-0 run to take an 11-5 advantage. After two consecutive Owl points, Haverford pulled away again as consecutive Cella aces made it 15-7. A Brown kill extended the margin to 19-10, and a block from Frank and Lolly Adair made it 20-10. The Fords closed the set on a 5-2 run to take the opener, 25-12.

The second set saw Haverford storm ahead 16-3, with Cella continuing her strong serving. Charlotte Dziki and Rachel Cohrs contributed kills as the Fords built a commanding 22-5 lead, withstanding a brief Bryn Mawr rally that cut the deficit to 22-9. Cella capped the frame with a kill to seal the 25-10 win.

In the third, Haverford jumped out to a 5-1 start and never looked back, extending the lead to 17-6. Moord and Izabela Potocnjak combined for a block to make it 19-9, and the Fords closed out the match with six of the final eight points to complete the sweep, 25-11.

Cella delivered a standout performance with eight kills and seven service aces. Olivia DeVille added three aces and three digs, while Cameryn DeBlecourt contributed seven assists and five digs across three sets. Dasha Igonin helped run the offense with 11 assists and added two aces over two sets. Potocnjak notched her 100th career ace.

Up next, Haverford hosts No. 7 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, November. 1, at noon in Gooding '84 Arena for Senior Day. Prior to first serve, the Fords will honor their Class of 2026: Izabela Potocnjak, Kayla Chu, Cameryn DeBlecourt, and Eliana Brown.
