CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Haverford College men's tennis team picked up two points from Kevin Caulfield's play but fell, 6-3, to No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Saturday night in the Fords' final match of their spring break trip to the West Coast.
Kevin Caulfield helped the Haverford (0-4) upset bid with wins in both singles and doubles but CMS (9-2) fought off the Fords with four wins in other singles play.
Danny Himelstein teamed with Caulfield in an 8-6 win over Victor Chien and Neel Kotrappa at No. 1 doubles. Caulfield defeated Matt Ellis in straight sets at No. 1 singles for the Fords' second point against the nationally-ranked Stags.
Matt Romei picked up Haverford's other singles point with a straight set win over Ethan Bond at No. 5.
The Fords return to the East Coast where they will open up Centennial Conference action with a Saturday, 1 p.m. match at Gettysburg College.
