HAVERFORD, Pa. –The Haverford College men's tennis team defeated visiting Muhlenberg College, 7-2, Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action winning their fourth straight match.
The Fords (7-3, 4-2 CC) have bounced back from an 0-2 conference start with those four wins and moved up into a fourth place tie with Washington in the league standings. Muhlenberg drops to 3-6 overall and 1-5 within the Centennial.
A sweep of the three doubles matches got Haverford off to a good start Wednesday on the Bramall Courts.
Will Garrett teamed with Hailiu Yang at No. 1 doubles to defeat Robbie Goldwein and Jordan Rutt of Muhlenberg, 8-4, and win their fifth straight doubles match.
Matthew Cebul and Natty Sergay won at No. 2 while Danny Himelstein and Jacob Weisenthal were teaming up on another court for a win at No. 3.
Haverford's Kevin Caulfield, Yang, Ankur Arya and Michael Gelberg won at Nos. 1-4, respectively, in singles play to clinch the match for the home team.
Next up for the Fords will be a Saturday away match against Centennial foe McDaniel College who has yet to win a conference match this season.
