No. 23 Women's Lacrosse Eclipsed by No. 4 Tufts in NCAA Second Round

Brooke Epstein's trio of goals cemented her spot atop the program's all-time leaderboard with 219 career tallies.

MEDFORD, Mass. - The 23rd-ranked Haverford College women's lacrosse team (14-7) saw its 2026 season end in the NCAA Tournament Second Round, falling to host No. 4 Tufts (15-3) by a final of 17-7 at Bello Field on the Tufts campus Sundauy afternoon.

Haverford senior co-captain Brooke Epstein added a career record for the second consecutive day, as she tallied a hat-trick to pull to 219 career goals, etching her name at the top of the all-time goals list at Haverford. In two matches this weekend, Epstein eclipsed Lindsay Carey-Bean '00 in both the points (292) and goals (219) chase in Haverford history and finishes her season with 67 goals.

Kylie McNamara also added two goals for the Fords. Bella Gattuso and Natalie Bole also found the back of the net for the visitors, with Louisa Coughlin recording an assist.

The Fords trimmed a 13-1 halftime deficit by scoring six goals over the final 30 minutes, including a four-goal fourth quarter, before seeing their season come to a close in a 10-goal decision.

Tufts controlled the opening quarter with a 9-0 run behind five first-period goals from Allie Zorn. The Jumbos extended the advantage to 12-0 midway through the second before Bole broke through on a player-up tally with 6:13 left in the half.

Haverford responded with some of its strongest play after the break. Gattuso opened the second-half scoring before Epstein converted a free-position opportunity during another extra-player advantage to pull the Fords within 13-3. McNamara scored twice in the fourth quarter, while Epstein added two more goals in the final period, including the game's final tally right as time expired.

Defensively, Lauren Anderson was a force as she paced the Fords with five ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Finley Jordan added two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Epstein contributed two draw controls, two ground balls, and a caused turnover in an all-around effort. In goal, rookie Shaina Lewis finished with nine saves against 36 Tufts shots.

Women's Lacrosse continued its rise as one of the nation's premier programs in 2026, capturing the top seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament for the first time, and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. The Fords have now reached three straight NCAA Tournaments and four in the last five years, further cementing their place among the nation's best while continuing a historic era of success for the program.
