HAVERFORD, Pa. — The Haverford College softball team (23-11, 6-8 CC) dropped both contests of a Centennial Conference doubleheader to (RV) Muhlenberg (25-9, 11-3 CC) on Tuesday afternoon at Class of '95 Field, falling 6–4 in an offensive-heavy opener before suffering a 1–0 setback in game two.

Kyra Van Denburgh led the Fords at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI. Kamaha'o Bode also recorded a perfect day offensively, finishing 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Abby Litchfield added a hit and drove in a run, while Addie Sapirstein and Zoe Friedman each chipped in a hit. In the circle, Kaleigh Bodak and Shelby Preisser split duties, with Preisser providing four innings of relief, allowing just one earned run.
Muhlenberg struck first in the second inning, as Izzy Wilmot delivered a two-run single down the right field line, scoring Morgan Bobrowski and Lillie Teague, to give the visitors a 2–0 lead.
Haverford answered in the bottom half of the inning when Kyra Van Denburgh singled to center, eventually plating Lauren Lamme, who scored on a fielding error in the outfield.
The Mules added on in the third, capitalizing on a fielder's choice to extend the lead to 3–1, but the Scarlet and Black responded once again, as Bode singled to center and advanced to second on the throw, driving in Lauren Martin to make it a 3–2 contest.
Muhlenberg pushed its advantage to 4–2 in the fourth, taking advantage of a throwing error, before Van Denburgh responded in the bottom half with a solo home run to center field, her first of the season, bringing Haverford back within one at 4–3.
The visitors, however, created separation in the sixth inning, scoring twice on a stolen base and a Haverford error to take a 6–3 lead. Haverford looked to rally in the bottom of the sixth, as Abby Litchfield drove in a run on a groundout to make it 6–4. But the Fords were unable to complete the comeback in the final frame, as Josie Krieman secured the complete game victory for the Mules.
Muhlenberg 1, Haverford 0
Jocelyn Leal led Haverford offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double. Abby Litchfield added a hit, while Addie Sapirstein reached base twice with a pair of walks. In the circle, Clarissa Smith delivered a strong complete-game effort, allowing just one run on nine hits.
The game remained scoreless through the first four innings, as Smith worked out of several jams to keep the Mules off the board, with the visitors leaving six runners on base in the first four frames. With runners on second and third and two outs for Muhlenberg, Smith induced a flyout from Morgan Bobrowski to escape the threat unscathed.
Muhlenberg broke through in the fifth inning, using a groundout from Lillie Teague to bring home Ava Storlazzi , as the game's lone run for a 1–0 advantage.
The Fords threatened late, putting together their best opportunity in the bottom of the seventh. With just two outs to go, Abby Litchfield singled to third base and was replaced by pinch runner Sophia Faruol. Sarah Fan then struck out swinging for the second out, but Sapirstein worked a walk to keep the inning alive. Leal followed with a single to third, loading the bases with two outs and bringing the potential winning run to the plate. However, the Scarlet and Black were unable to capitalize, as Kyra Van Denburgh went down on strikes after a controversial check swing on a 1–2 count. The call was ultimately confirmed by the field umpire, who ruled the junior had gone around, ending the game on a strikeout.
Haverford will close the 2026 regular season in Westminster, Md., taking on McDaniel in a Centennial Conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 25. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
