HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 30 Haverford College men's tennis team (6-7, 4-0 CC) delivered a comprehensive 7-0 sweep of Gettysburg (3-8, 0-2 CC) on Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Field House, remaining unbeaten in Centennial Conference play while showcasing both depth and efficiency across the lineup.
The Fords seized early control by sweeping all three doubles matches. The opening win was clinched at No. 1 where Niki Lavu and Teo Bortan dispatched JP Damare and Connor McPartland, 6-1. Moments later, Caden Hsia and Stefan Johnson secured the doubles point with a 7-5 victory at No. 2, taking down Teo Burgess and Owen Kutlu. The final doubles match to conclude came at No. 3, as Lucio Kombo and Alejandro Rodriguez capped the sweep with a 7-6 (7-2 tiebreaker) triumph over Spencer Pompian and Andy Beckerlegge.Â
In singles play, Haverford maintained that momentum with straight-set victories across the board. Lavu was first off the court at No. 1 singles, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Burgess. Shortly after, Hsia followed at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 result against Ben O'Connor-Skloot. Bortan then secured the third singles point at No. 2, defeating McPartland by a 6-1, 6-3 margin to clinch the overall match for Haverford. Aarush Kumar added to the tally at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Kutlu.Â
The final two matches to finish were played as a pro-set format. Zach Miano earned an 8-2 win at No. 5 singles, dispatching Pompian, while Chait Krishna closed out the afternoon with an 8-4 victory at No. 6 over Beckerlegge.Â
With the sweep, Haverford continues its strong run through conference play, combining sharp doubles execution with decisive singles performances throughout the lineup.
Haverford now will play its next three matches out of conference, taking on TCNJ on April 1 to begin the stretch that also includes a home matchup against No. 8 Babson (Apr. 4) and a trip to No. 22 NYU (Apr. 11).
