SCRANTON, Pa. — The 18th-ranked Haverford College women's lacrosse team (2-1) secured a decisive victory over Marywood University (1-5), prevailing by a final score of 16-5 to wrap up a busy first week of action. The Fords' offensive efforts were highlighted by three player-up goals, contributing to their commanding performance on Sunday.

Brooke Epstein scored three goals, including one on a free-position shot, and added an assist to lead the attack while also corralling five draw controls. Kylie McNamara notched two goals while Daniela Martini contributed to the offensive effort with one goal and two assists, finding the back of the net on both of her shots. Natalie Frekko finished with two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist.  Ella Salvador played the first half of action, making three saves while Shaina Lewis made four in the second half.

Haverford opened the match with a renewed offensive spirit, as Mikelle Smith controlled the first draw, leading to a goal by McNamara at 14:08, assisted by Smith. The Fords maintained momentum with Smith scoring a free position goal at 12:36. Sophie Jaffe tallied again at 10:54, with an assist from Frekko, extending Haverford's early lead. Louisa Coughlin added a player-up goal at 10:14, assisted by Martini as the Fords capitalized on some early penalties from the Pacers.. Despite Marywood's efforts to respond with goals from Meighan, the Fords ended the first quarter ahead, 4-2.

Haverford then dominated the second quarter, beginning with Epstein's goal at 12:38, which set the tone for a barrage to come. Frekko then added to the lead with back-to-back goals at 10:57 and 9:34, both assisted by Sophie Jaffe. Following a Marywood timeout, Epstein scored again at 9:16, with Jaffe assisting. McNamara and Epstein continued the scoring streak, with Epstein capitalizing on a player-up situation at 6:43. Georgia Buendia closed the quarter with a goal at 2:36, this time assisted by Epstein. The quarter concluded with Haverford leading 11-2 heading to the halftime intermission.

Haverford continued to assert its offensive firepower in the third quarter, opening the scoring with a goal by Natalie Bole at 11:12, assisted by Kalli Mullen. Bole struck again at 9:35 with help from Martini, pushing the lead further. Kate Peters added to the Fords' tally with her first career goal, converting a free position goal at 7:39. Despite a late goal by Marywood's Kelly with a minute left in the frame, Haverford closed the quarter ahead 14-3.

Martini capitalized on a player-up opportunity early in the fourth quarter, scoring with an assist from Sophie Jaffe at 12:04. Shortly after, Mullen extended the Fords' lead with a goal assisted by Jaffe at 8:29. Marywood responded with goals from Backes and Meighan in the final stretch but could not overcome Haverford's advantage with the running clock in play.

Haverford held a 45-19 advantage in shots, and a commanding 23-10 edge in shots on goal. The Fords controlled ground balls at a 27-15 edge, and stifled Marywood to just five successful clears in 12 attempts.

The Fords will continue the 2026 campaign on Wednesday with another road trip, this time heading to Lebanon Valley for a 5 p.m. contest in Annville, Pa.
