STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Haverford College women's track and field team competed at the Fastrack National Invitational on Friday afternoon inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The meet featured numerous personal bests, multiple top-10 finishes, and a new program record in the 800 meters, as Olivia D'Aulerio broke the Haverford College indoor 800-meter mark with an impressive time of 2:15.48.
D'Aulerio highlighted the day in Staten Island, as her eighth-place finish edged out Katie Balmer '15's previous school record of 2:15.67. She was joined in the event by Anastasia Jaycobs, who placed 14th with a time of 2:18.85, setting a new personal best, and Savannah Shaw, who finished 24th in 2:22.72, also a personal best.
Devyn Telleen added a 30th-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.74, marking a new personal best, while Carly Priest placed 35th in 2:24.98, also a personal best. Sophia Furman rounded out the Haverford entries in the event, posting a personal-best time of 2:33.84.
Beatrice Di Girolamo opened the day's events with an impressive seventh-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, racing to a time of 9.76, a new personal best that now stands as the ninth-fastest time in Haverford College history. She was joined by first-year Adriana Rogow, who placed 29th with a personal-best time of 12.11.
Di Girolamo also competed in the long jump invitational, where the sophomore recorded a mark of 4.82 meters (15 feet, 9.75 inches) to place 18th.
In the throwing events, senior Sarah Wilcher secured a 30th-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 10.32 meters (33 feet, 10.25 inches). Wilcher also competed in the weight throw, posting a distance of 13.21 meters (43 feet, 4 inches) to take 16th place.
In the 60-meter dash, Nadine Tang sprinted to a 14th-place finish with a time of 8.26, while Zofi Sanders placed 46th in 8.76. Abigail Miyake added a 52nd-place result, clocking a personal-best 9.15.
The sprinters later moved to the 200 meters, where Tang finished 64th with a time of 27.81. Sanders followed in 96th with a time of 29.55, while Rogow placed 101st in 30.88, marking another personal best.
In the women's mile, Haverford was represented by six runners across the field. Maia Poremba led the Scarlet and Black, placing 50th overall with a time of 5:28.85, followed closely by Jessie Hausman, who finished 51st in 5:29.33, a new personal best. Bianca Ortiz crossed the line in 72nd place with a time of 5:46.31, while Betty Baraki took 76th in 5:54.80, also a personal best. Madeline Ruchelman added a 79th-place finish in 6:00.80, and Judy Xie rounded out the Haverford contingent in 83rd, clocking 6:25.46.
Taniya Denson once again tied her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 3.20 meters (10 feet, 6 inches) to share ninth place.
In the women's 400 meters, Lorelei Middleton paced the Scarlet and Black with an eighth-place finish, clocking 58.67, a new personal best that extends her hold on the third-fastest time in Haverford College history. Anna Berry followed in 62nd place with a personal-best time of 1:03.58, while Maggie Blanford finished 77th in 1:04.94. Emery Casucci added an 82nd-place result in 1:05.47, also a personal best, and Madison Lewis rounded out the Haverford entries with an 87th-place finish at 1:06.38, securing another personal best.
The 3,000 meters saw Grace Chen lead the Scarlet and Black with a 24th-place finish, crossing the line in 10:54.43 for a new personal best. Alice Sappenfield followed in 27th place with a time of 11:02.35, while Audrey Carter posted a 45th-place finish in 11:45.58, also a personal best. Keiko Chinen added a 52nd-place result in 12:10.58, and Claire Parsons finished 53rd with a time of 12:23.83.
The meet concluded with a very strong distance medley relay, as the quartet of Shaw, Middleton, Jaycobs, and D'Aulerio raced to a third-place finish, crossing the line in an impressive 12:13.39, the third-fastest time in Haverford College history.
Women's indoor track and field will return to action on Saturday, February 14, at the Widener Indoor Classic. The throwing events will take place in Chester, Pa., on Friday, February 13, at 4 p.m., before competition resumes in Philadelphia, Pa., at the Ott Center on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
