Men's Basketball Falls to Gettysburg, 67-47

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College men's basketball team (7-16, 1-10 CC) fell to Centennial Conference leader Gettysburg (15-8, 10-1 CC) by a 67-47 final on Saturday afternoon inside Bream Gymnasium. The Bullets used a pair of first-half runs to seize control and maintained separation throughout the second half.

Christian Uremovich led the Fords with 12 points, converting six of his 12 attempts from the field. Adam Strong-Jacobson added nine points and contributed defensively with two blocks. Niko Rizos scored six points while collecting two rebounds and a steal. Emmanuel Cheung Hernandez posted five points and five rebounds, providing a strong presence on the boards.

Ray Zamloot paced Gettysburg with 18 points, shooting 7-of-18 from the field and 4-of-12 from beyond the arc, while adding two steals and two assists. Malachi Briscoe contributed 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting and blocked one shot. Reece Craft was a force on the glass, totaling 10 rebounds to go along with nine points. Josh Herr chipped in six points on 2-of-4 shooting, alongside four rebounds and two assists.

The game opened with a Briscoe layup, but Uremovich quickly answered with a jumper to tie the score. Strong-Jacobson later knocked down a three-pointer midway through the half, trimming the deficit to 18-11 following a 14-5 scoring run by the hosts. Gettysburg responded once again, as a Zamloot three-pointer at the 3:53 mark extended the lead. The period closed with Haverford trailing 31-19 after Raja Coleman converted a fast-break layup with 39 seconds remaining.

Gettysburg capitalized on second-chance opportunities in the first half, outscoring the Fords 11-0 on second-chance points and grabbing 13 offensive rebounds. Despite shooting just 36 percent from the field, the Bullets created extra possessions to maintain control. Haverford struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just one of seven attempts in the opening half.

The Bullets expanded their lead early in the second half behind a scoring surge from Zamloot. He connected on a three-pointer at 15:47, added a fast-break layup at 15:26, and drilled another three at 15:16 to stretch the advantage. The Fords countered with inside baskets, including a fast-break dunk from Rizos at 10:31, but Gettysburg maintained a double-digit cushion throughout the period. Briscoe added key points down the stretch as the Bullets secured the 67-47 victory.

Gettysburg finished the second half with 14 field goals, including five three-pointers, while Haverford was held without a three-point make after halftime. Although the Fords forced six turnovers and scored 10 points off those opportunities, they were unable to close the gap.

Haverford returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18, traveling to Washington College for an 8 p.m. Centennial Conference matchup in Chestertown, Maryland.
