Men's Lacrosse Begins 2026 Campaign with Dominant 26-2 Victory over Neumann

HAVERFORD, Pa. — Haverford College men's lacrosse (1-0) opened the 2026 campaign in dominant fashion, rolling to a 26-2 victory over Neumann (0-1) on Friday afternoon at Swan Field. The 26 goals are tied for the second-most in a single game in program history. The Fords unleashed 77 shots, a new school record, while holding the Knights to just two goals on 22 attempts. The Scarlet and Black were exceptional at the faceoff X, winning 26-of-30 draws — a new single-game school record — and capitalized on five man-up opportunities.

Reid Tietjen led Haverford with a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists. Nick Snyder and Will Weinstein each added five points (three goals, two assists), while Philip Passalaqua chipped in two goals and two assists. Charlie Vaccaro followed with a man-up tally at 11:30, set up by Snyder. Tietjen added two more goals in the frame, while Ethan Waugh and Passalaqua also found the back of the net as Haverford built a 6-0 lead after one. Neumann struggled to clear cleanly and faced consistent pressure from the Fords' defense.

The Fords broke the contest open in the second quarter, outscoring the Knights 10-2. Weinstein found the net at 11:26 before Neumann answered with its first goal of the afternoon. Haverford quickly regained momentum, highlighted by Snyder's man-up strike at 5:41 off a feed from Tietjen. Passalaqua and JT Anderson added goals during the run as the Scarlet and Black surged to a 16-2 halftime advantage.

Haverford's defense tightened in the third quarter, holding the Knights scoreless while extending the lead. Caden Matulonis recorded his first collegiate goal at 12:04, assisted by Weinstein. Seamus McNally added a tally at 7:29, while Weinstein scored at 3:33 off a pass from Colin Hulett. Roan Spencer capped the quarter with a man-up goal at 3:06, pushing the Fords' lead to 20-2 entering the final period.
