Four Different Goal Scorers Power Field Hockey Past Stockton, 4-1

GALLOWAY, N.J. — The Haverford College field hockey team (2-0) earned a 4-1 victory over Stockton (1-2) on Wednesday evening at Stockton Turf Field. The Fords used a strong third quarter, scoring twice to break open what had been a tightly contested match, and are now off to a 2-0 start for the third-straight season.

The Fords generated immediate pressure in the first quarter, earning multiple penalty corners in the opening minutes. Stockton goalkeeper Erika Roura denied Alice Stein early, but Haverford eventually capitalized when Holly Vincent scored at 14:22, assisted by Abigail Trapp, giving the visitors a 1-0 edge. The Ospreys countered with several corners of their own, but the Fords' defense held firm.

Haverford extended its advantage in the second quarter, as Stein tallied her second goal of the season off an assist from Erica Pardón just before the 28th minute. Stockton answered quickly, cutting the deficit to 2-1 on a goal from Makayla Alessi, set up by Riley DeMarco. Both sides continued to threaten through penalty corners, with Trapp executing three and Stockton's Carlee Thompson delivering four before halftime.

The Fords seized control in the third quarter through more corner play. Pardón buried her third goal of the season at 37:29, assisted by Vincent, before York added her second of the year in the 45th minute on another well-executed set piece. Stockton earned multiple corners in response but was turned away by a disciplined Haverford defense.

The Ospreys continued to push in the fourth quarter, generating several late corners, but goalkeeper Steph Ionescu stood tall with six saves on the night, ensuring the 4-1 victory for the Scarlet and Black.

Pardón powered the offense with a goal and two assists, while Vincent contributed a goal and an assist. Stein led the team with six shots, scoring once, and York added the final tally. For Stockton, Alessi scored the lone goal, Bailey led the attack with seven shots, and Roura finished with five saves in cage.

Haverford returns to Swan Field on Saturday, September 7, for an 11 a.m. showdown against No. 12 SUNY Cortland.
