Women's Soccer Battles to a 0-0 Draw with DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Haverford College women's soccer team (2-2-2) and DeSales (1-3-2) played to a scoreless draw on Wednesday afternoon. The Fords generated consistent pressure with 10 total shots, including five on goal, but the Bulldogs' defense held firm behind goalkeeper Campbell Pacheco, who tallied five saves.

Haverford's goalkeepers combined for the shutout, with Allie Billups making one save in 45 minutes of action.

The first half was tightly contested, with neither side able to break through. Haverford created early looks as Caroline Flynn fired wide in the fifth minute and Olivia Daulerio tested DeSales' back line in the 22nd. The half also featured physical play, highlighted by a yellow card issued to DeSales' Hailie Murphy in the 21st minute. Haverford committed several fouls of its own, including multiple whistles against Mia Peifer and Ali Dorrego, adding to the tense atmosphere.

The second half saw more attacking opportunities for both sides. Peifer put an attempt wide in the 47th minute, while DeSales' Madison O'Connor picked up the second yellow card of the match in the 50th. The Fords continued to press as Sophia Mitchell forced a save in the 65th minute and Emma Kirk was denied by Pacheco in the 71st. Despite the late chances, neither side could convert before the final whistle.

In goal, Lily Buyer played the opening 45 minutes without facing a shot. Billups closed out the match with one save in the second half to preserve the clean sheet for Haverford. Offensively, Peifer and Daulerio paced the Fords with two shots apiece, while Daulerio put one on target.

For DeSales, Pacheco's five-save performance made a difference defensively, while Avery Lane recorded the Bulldogs' lone shot on goal.

Haverford now returns to action on Saturday, September 20, traveling to Gettysburg for a 1 p.m. Centennial Conference matchup.
