Reza Eshghi '25 Named CSC Academic All-American

An economics major, Eshghi capped his career with a national runner-up finish in the indoor 3,000 meters, earning first-team All-America honors.

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Reza Eshghi '25 has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Division III Men's Cross Country/Track & Field Third Team, following a standout career with Haverford's men's cross country and track & field programs, the organization announced in a release Wednesday.

Eshghi becomes the 24th Academic All-America honoree in Haverford history and the second this academic year, joining Eric Chen, who earned first-team honors in the at-large category for men's fencing last week. Last year, Peter LaRochelle was also named to the Academic All-America Third Team.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, student-athletes must be at least sophomores academically and athletically, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and rank among the top 50 regionally in an individual event in cross country or track & field.

An economics major, Eshghi capped his career with a national runner-up finish in the indoor 3,000 meters, earning first-team All-America honors. He is a three-time All-American, with additional second-team recognition in the mile and 1,500 meters (2024) and the 5,000 meters (2025). He was named the 2025 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and received the Gregory Kannerstein '63 Award, Haverford's second-highest athletic honor for seniors.

A versatile and dominant competitor, the Lincoln, Mass., native earned first-team All-Centennial honors in the distance medley relay (2023), mile, 1,500, and 5,000 meters (2024), and repeated as champion in the mile, 1,500, and 3,000 meters in 2025. He consistently earned USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors from 2023 through 2025 in multiple events, including the mile, 1,500, 3,000, and 5,000 meters. In cross country, he was a two-time NCAA qualifier and earned All-Region and second-team All-Centennial honors in 2024.

Eshghi was recognized on the CSC Academic All-District Team for three consecutive years and received the Ambler Scholar-Athlete Award, presented to one of the top 15 GPAs among Haverford's senior athletes. He was named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll six times and was a five-time Centennial Track Athlete of the Week.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with awards fulfillment for the 2023–24 cycle. Since its inception in 1952, CSC has honored more than 21,000 student-athletes across Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA in all NCAA championship sports.
