No. 16 Men's Tennis Cruises Past Ursinus, 7-0

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 16 Haverford College men's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 win over visiting Ursinus on Tuesday afternoon at the Bramall Courts, notching their 14th victory of the season and sixth in Centennial Conference play. The 14th win of the season marked the most for the program in a single season since the 1994 campaign.

The Fords (14-3, 6-1 CC), ranked fourth in the Atlantic South Region and 16th nationally, were dominant from start to finish, sweeping all three doubles courts before rattling off six straight-set wins in singles. The Bears dropped to 11-9 overall and 2-4 in Centennial Conference play.

Doubles play set the tone early for the hosts. Justin Minerva and James McKenzie made quick work of Noah Dichter and Russell Nour at the top spot, winning 6-1. On court two, Owen Kilmer and Marko Arboleda earned a 6-2 win over Andrei Bogdan and Deniz Finkel. The sweep was completed by the dynamic duo of rookies Zach Miano and Teo Bortan with a 6-2 decision over Devin Carter and Teddy Snyder.

In singles, Chait Krishna was first off court with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Dichter at the fourth spot. Danny Loder followed with an identical scoreline over Nour on court five, while Bortan dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 rout of Charles DiCicco at No. 6 singles.

Kilmer secured the team victory at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 result over Bogdan, before Arboleda, ranked No. 18 in the Atlantic South, took down Snyder 6-2, 6-4 at the top position. Niki Lavu then closed out the sweep with a 7-5, 6-1 win against Finkel at No. 3.

Haverford will look to continue its strong form as it wraps up the regular season with one final contest before postseason play begins. A non-conference matchup against a top regional foe, Johns Hopkins, is next on the docket in Baltimore. Action on the road is slated to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
