Cricket Glides Past British Officers CC

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College cricket team registered another victory on Saturday at Cope Field, running its spring record to a perfect 4-0. 

In the absence of Mohanish Bajaj, Deep Patel opened the batting with Sidd Phatak and put together a fantastic opening partnership of 150 runs, not out. Both players played beautiful shots, and when Patel reached 50 runs (his first 50 for Haverford College), he was retired to give other players a chance to bat. 

Phatak played another fine innings, scoring 88 runs with some magnificent shots. Sanil Kagalwala (15) and Aniketh Rao (19) added valuable runs, and Haverford ended up scoring 220 runs for six wickets in the allotted 25 overs.

Gurpreet and Fahad took three and two wickets respectively, conceding 29 and 37 runs for British Officers. In reply, the British Officers scored 154 runs for five wickets in their 25 overs. Rajat (35), Fahad (38), and Sushant (16) were the top scorers.

Ishpuneet Singh and Nihaal Kochar took two wickets each, conceding 15 and 25 runs respectively. Rustom Dubash took one wicket for five runs as Haverford won by 66 runs.

The Fords will now return to action on Saturday, April 26 against storied rival Penn at 12 p.m. on Cope Field. The two-match weekend then concludes on Sunday, April 27 with a visit from Colgate (12 p.m.).
