Cricket Completes Undefeated Spring Season

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford Cricket team wrapped up an undefeated regular season this past weekend with wins over Penn and Colgate on Cope Field, putting in strong all-around performances.

On Saturday against Penn, Haverford batted first and scored 175 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. Captain Sidd Phatak led the way playing a captain's knock  with a solid half-century (50 runs), while Mohanish Bajaj added 36, Nihaal Kochar chipped in with 22, Agastya Singh contributed 18, and Sanil Kagalwala finished not out on 17.

Penn, batting second, reached 32 runs for two wickets when heavy rain forced the match to stop early. Since Haverford had scored at a much faster rate during the early part of the game (the first five overs), they were awarded the win according to cricket's rain rules.

On Sunday, Haverford faced Colgate and once again batted first, piling up a huge total of 228 runs in 20 overs, including a magnificent century from Mohanish Bajaj

Phatak and Bajaj gave Haverford a strong start, with Phatak scoring 31 before getting out. Bajaj and Kochar then put together a big 175-run partnership. Bajaj played shots all around the field and retired after reaching 100 runs, while Kochar made a steady 41. Agastya Singh added a quick 14 not out.

Chasing a big total, Colgate struggled and kept losing wickets regularly. They were bowled out for just 78 runs, with Arham (21) and Ayub (16) top scoring.

For Haverford, Agastya Singh starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for just 14 runs. Aniketh Rao (2 for 12), Ishpuneet Singh (1 for 9), and Anuj Poddar (1 for 7) also bowled strongly. Haverford won comfortably by 150 runs.

With the regular season now complete, Haverford will shift focus to the Philadelphia International Cricket Festival (PICF). The Fords will open tournament play on Thursday afternoon, hosting the visiting Toronto Cricket Club at 3:15 p.m. on Cope Field.
