CARLISLE, Pa. – The Haverford College men's lacrosse team (9–6, 2–5 CC) was upended on the road by No. 16 Dickinson (10–5, 6–1 CC), 15-5, at Biddle Field on the Dickinson College campus Saturday afternoon.
Reid Tietjen led Haverford with a hat trick, while Matt Richards added a goal and an assist. Philip Passalaqua contributed two assists, and D'Andre Chaney chipped in with a goal. Goalkeeper Jacob Abraham made 13 saves over 60 minutes between the pipes. Sean McHugh tallied three caused turnovers, while Richards, Abraham, and Kolin Brandeis each scooped up four ground balls.
Dickinson's offense was powered by Tommy Baldini's three goals, while Landen Hyatt and Luke Whalen each netted two. Whalen also added three assists for the Red Devils.
The hosts outpaced Haverford in several key categories: shots (58–35), ground balls (43–28), and face-offs (24–14). While Haverford committed slightly more turnovers (19–16), the Fords were perfect on clears (23–23), compared to Dickinson's 25–30 performance. Dickinson converted one extra-man opportunity, while Haverford went 0-for-2.
The Red Devils opened the game with a 3–1 lead after the first quarter. Philip Passalaqua found Richards in front of the cage, and Richards finished with 2:31 left in the frame to cut the deficit to 3–2. Dickinson controlled the second quarter, blanking Haverford during a 4–0 run that sent the hosts into halftime with a 7–2 lead. Hyatt struck first in the third with a man-up goal, but Haverford answered with a quick pair: Tietjen scored, and on the ensuing possession, Chaney converted off a Passalaqua feed to pull the Fords within four, 8–4.
Dickinson responded with a run that effectively sealed the contest, closing the third with a goal and then rattling off five straight to open the fourth, building a commanding 14–4 advantage with 1:55 remaining. Tietjen completed his hat trick at the 1:13 mark off an assist from Tyler Vendetti, but Jacob Strouch scored in the final seconds to restore the 10-goal margin for the hosts.
Haverford now turns its attention to Senior Day on Swan Field next weekend. The Fords will honor the Class of 2025 prior to a Hood Trophy showdown against No. 17 Swarthmore on Saturday, April 26. The action will follow the women's game against the Garnet, with opening faceoff scheduled for approximately 3 p.m.
