CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team opened competition on Friday night at Widener University, kicking off a two-day slate at the Paul Donahoe Invitational. Field events, including throws and jumps, took place concurrently with distance events on the track.
Senior Julianna Watson led the way for the Fords in the 5,000 meters, clocking a time of 19:20.79 to secure a 28th-place finish in a competitive field. Watson displayed strong pacing and late-race consistency to shatter her previous personal best of 19:39.68.
Junior Audrey Carter crossed the line in 21:06.90, placing 54th overall, while sophomore Claire Parsons followed closely behind in 63rd, recording a new personal best of 21:54.92—an improvement on her previous mark of 22:01.61 set at the Bill Butler Invitational earlier this month.
In the triple jump, Grace Hannigan posted an outdoor personal best of 10.41 meters (34 feet, 2 inches), earning a ninth-place finish overall.
Sarah Wilcher competed in both the discus and shot put, finishing 11th in the discus with a throw of 35.30 meters (115 feet, 9 inches) and 12th in the shot put with a mark of 11.10 meters (36 feet, 5 inches).
Haverford returns to action tomorrow as the Paul Donahoe Invitational resumes at 9 a.m.
