Cricket Defeats Amwell Valley for Third Straight Win to Begin Spring Season

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College cricket delivered a dominant performance to defeat Amwell Valley by 9 wickets, chasing down a target of 131 in just 19.2 overs at Cope Field on Sunday afternoon. 

Amwell Valley batted first and posted 130 runs in their allotted 30 overs. Their top contributors with the bat were Neil (19), George (19), and Kishor (17). Haverford's bowlers kept things tight throughout the innings. Nihaal Kochar and Ishpuneet Singh each picked up a wicket, conceding just 16 and 19 runs respectively. Mohanish Bajaj and Sanil Kagalwala chipped in with two wickets apiece, while Agastya Singh also claimed one. Haverford's fielding was sharp, with standout catches from Bajaj and Kochar highlighting a disciplined effort in the field.

In response, Haverford lost captain Sidd Phatak early, with the score at 13. However, Bajaj and Kochar took control of the chase, putting together an excellent 122-run partnership. Both played fluent strokes on both sides of the wicket, with Mohanish finishing unbeaten on 48 and Nihaal on 56. Their partnership saw Haverford comfortably reach the target in 19.2 overs.

Sunday's comprehensive victory against an always talented Amwell Valley club was a testament to Haverford's all-round performance to begin the spring. Haverford now returns to action on Saturday, April 19 against British Officers Cricket Club on Cope Field. The action is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
