WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team earned second place with a total of 97 points on Saturday afternoon, competing at the Bill Butler Invitational on the campus of West Chester University. The impressive result saw the Fords place above six Division II schools, as well as Hood Trophy rival Swarthmore. The day was highlighted by a first-place result from Olivia D'Aulerio in the 400 meters and history in the Javelin from Summer Ryan. With a personal-best throw of 30.37m (99 feet, 8 inches), Ryan not only secured fifth place in the javelin but also etched her name into the record books, moving into 10th all-time in Haverford history.
In an always highly contested 100 meters, Nadine Tang sprinted to an exciting fourth-place finish with a time of 13.17. She was followed by Zofi Sanders, who placed 14th with a time of 14.14, before senior Sophie Gardiner grabbed 16th place with a time of 14.55.
Tang also captured fourth place in the 200 meters, dashing to a time of 27.79. She was joined by fellow sophomore Grace Hannigan, who earned a new personal-best time of 28.45. Placing 12th overall was Abby Ryan, who ran a 28.91, before Brianna Feifer placed 14th with a time of 29.22. Sanders notched a personal best with a time of 29.66 for 18th place, followed by a strong showing from Gardiner, who took home 22nd with a new personal-best time of 30.48.
On a cloudy and rainy day, Olivia D'Aulerio truly shined, as the junior earned first place in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.16. She was joined by Feifer, who came in 13th place with a time of 1:07.44.
In the 800 meters, Anastasia Jaycobs came away with second place, crossing the finish line in 2:23.48, before Savannah Shaw finished fifth with a time of 2:28.74. Finishing in eighth place was Carly Priest, who ran to a time of 2:31.12, just ahead of Ella Fleming, who earned 13th place with a time of 2:36.00. Emery Casucci placed 17th with a time of 2:43.27, followed by Sophia Furman in 19th, who earned a time of 2:46.18. In 21st was Beatrice Di Girolamo with a time of 2:47.47, finishing just one spot ahead of Katie Strutton, who finished 22nd with a time of 2:48.28.
A pair of rookies took part in the 1,500 meters for the Fords, as Maia Poremba secured 13th place with a time of 5:24.74. She was joined by fellow rookie Natalie Kruglyak, who raced to a 25th-place finish with a time of 6:08.13.
Krysta Nichols led the way in the 5000 meters, as the senior earned a new personal-best time of 19:29.84 for fourth place. Following Nichols in fifth was Julianna Watson, who crossed the finish line in 19:39.68, also a personal best. In sixth was Audrey Carter, who grabbed a new personal-best time of 20:59.97, before Claire Parsons finished seventh with a time of 22:01.6, earning a new personal best by over 36 seconds.
Abby Ryan returned to the track for the 100-meter hurdles, where the junior hurdled her way to a sixth-place finish with a time of 18.73. Rachel November had quite the day in the 400-meter hurdles, as the senior darted to a new personal-best time of 1:10.40 for second place.
In the javelin throw, Summer Ryan earned fifth place by launching the javelin a new personal-best distance of 30.37m (99 feet, 8 inches), good for 10th all-time in Haverford history, four feet further than Kayla Robinson '23's toss of 95 feet and 8 inches back in 2023.
Over at the discus throw, Sarah Wilcher took home seventh place with a toss of 32.06 meters (105 feet, 2 inches).
Wilcher then moved over to the shot put, where the junior sent the shot 10.83 meters (35 feet, 6 inches) for fifth place. Just behind Wilcher was Summer Ryan, who tossed the shot put 10.31 meters (33 feet, 10 inches) for a new personal best and seventh place overall. Making her shot put debut, Beatrice Di Girolamo recorded a distance of 8.71 meters (28 feet, 7 inches) for 17th place, while Ella Fleming came away with 20th after throwing the shot put a total distance of 7.19 meters (23 feet, 7 inches), for a new personal-best toss.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the "A" Team for Haverford took home third place with a time of 53.14.
Women's outdoor track & field will return to action next weekend for the two-day Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener University. The meet will begin on Friday, April 18, at 5 p.m.
