Men's Lacrosse Scores Season-High 19 Goals in Win Over Hendrix

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Haverford College men's lacrosse team (6-1), a squad receiving votes in the latest USILA Coaches' Poll, recorded a season-high 19 goals to defeat Hendrix (2-5) by a score 19-3 on Wednesday afternoon in neutral site action in Memphis. The matchup with the Warriors kicked off a two-game round-robin event held at Crain Field on the campus of Rhodes College. Haverford's 6-1 start is now the best start to a season since the 2008 team that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament en-route to an 11-5 campaign.

Ethan Waugh led the Fords in scoring with four goals on the day, followed by Matt Richards who contributed three goals and three assists. Evan Goldberg scooped up seven ground balls against Hendrix, while Turner Elliott and Seamus McNally caused one turnover each. In the faceoff X Evan Goldberg won 11-of-18 draws, while Drew Buck went 5-for-6. In the cage, Jacob Abraham made three saves on three shots faced, while Colby Freeman, Peter Del Col, and Mac Broaddus all saw time in between the posts, with the latter tallying three stops as well.

Haverford broke the game open in the first quarter, outscoring the Warriors 8-0 in a stunning barrage as Richards recorded all three of his goals in the first quarter, with Philip Passalaqua finding the back of the net twice. Other goal contributions in the opening 15 minutes came from D'Andre Chaney, Tyler Vendetti, and Buck.

Hendrix broke up the 8-0 scoring run by the Fords at the 12:39 mark of the second quarter, as Joseph Davis fired a shot into the back of the net.

Will Weinstein put the Scarlet and Black up 9-1, before Colin Hulett tacked on a goal juar 37 seconds later, recording Haverford's 10th goal of the game. Two goals from Ethan Waugh were followed up by a goal from Turner Elliott. Haverford ended the second quarter on a 5-0 run to take a commanding 13-1 lead into the halftime break.

Just like the second quarter, Davis opened up the third quarter with his second goal of the game, before the Fords went back on the offensive to pour in four straight goals  to take a 17-2 lead. McNally answered the Davis goal at the 8:54 mark, before assisting on the next two goals scored by Nick Snyder and Toby Berner. With 5:43 remaining in the third, Waugh scored his third goal of the contest, scoring in a man-down situation.

Waugh added his fourth and final goal of the matchup with 7:40 remaining in the fourth stanza, before Jack Conley scored the third goal of the day for the Warriors at the 5:24 mark. McNally wrapped up the victory with his second goal of the contest with just 4:12 remaining in the ballgame, to seal up a 19-3 win for Haverford.
