COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team capped off a two-meet weekend with the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday morning. The meet, held on the campus of Ursinus College, took place inside the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.
Beatrice Di Girolamo and Ella Fleming had a busy day ahead, competing in the pentathlon. The five-event series began with the 60-meter hurdles, where Di Girolamo took third place with a time of 10.32 seconds, followed by Fleming, who earned ninth place with a time of 11.04 seconds. In the 800 meters, Fleming claimed third place, finishing in 2:43.63.
Di Girolamo finished closely behind in fifth place, with a time of 2:48.83. In the high jump, both competitors tied for sixth place, clearing 1.31 meters (4 feet, 3.50 inches). In the long jump, Fleming led the duo, soaring to a distance of 4.47 meters (14 feet, 8 inches) for seventh place, while Di Girolamo jumped 4.37 meters (14 feet, 4 inches) to take eighth place. The shot put capped off the Women's Indoor Pentathlon, where Di Girolamo launched 9.13 meters (29 feet, 11.50 inches) for second place, and Fleming threw 7.75 meters (25 feet, 5.25 inches) for fourth place.
The Fords were represented by four athletes in the 800 meters, with Rachel November leading the pack with a personal best time of 2:29.41, good for seventh place. In 15th place was Sophia Furman, who finished in 2:37.27, while Emery Casucci set a personal record with a time of 2:47.11, earning 29th place. Rounding out the Haverford quartet was Natalie Kruglyak, who finished in 3:05.78 for 41st place.
In the women's mile, Bianca Ortiz led a trio of Fords, finishing 16th with a new personal best time of 5:51.92. Ortiz was followed by Betty Baraki, who placed 27th with a time of 6:09.76, and Judy Xie, who crossed the finish line in 30th place with a new personal best time of 6:18.77.
In the 3,000 meters, Poppy Chrisman placed third with a personal best time of 19:45.74, while Julianna Watson finished just behind in fifth place with a time of 20:15.27. They were joined by Audrey Carter, who took 11th place with a time of 22:00.12.
In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of Anna Berry, Adriana Cruz-Soto, Casucci, and November clocked a time of 4:23.28, finishing in third place.
In the weight throw, Sarah Wilcher placed 16th, establishing a new season-best throw of 12.16 meters (39 feet, 10.75 inches), before setting another season-best in the shot put with a toss of 12.32 meters (40 feet, 5 inches) to place seventh.
The women's indoor track & field team will return to action on Friday, February 14, for the two-day Widener Classic, beginning at 2:30 p.m. in Chester, Pa. The second day of the Widener Classic will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, inside the state-of-the-art Ott Center on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
