STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Haverford College men's track & field team kicked off a busy weekend at the Fastrack National Invitational, held at the Ocean Breeze Complex on Staten Island, one of the nation's premier indoor facilities. The Fords delivered a standout performance, with Reza Eshghi, Peter LaRochelle, and Jory Lee each recording top-10 marks in program history.
Reigning Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week Reza Eshghi continued his ascent up the national leaderboards and the Haverford record books with a blazing 4:06.06 in the mile, a new personal best and the seventh-fastest time in program history. Eshghi placed 11th overall in the event, finishing behind only Division I competitors. Torin Pelton-Flavin took 64th with a personal-best time of 4:37.97.
In the 3,000 meters, Peter LaRochelle finished fifth overall and was the second-fastest Division III finisher, clocking a personal-best 8:20.48. His time currently ranks eighth in program history. Luke de Valpine followed as the top finisher out of the second heat, placing 15th overall with a personal-best 8:40.89. Just behind him, Seamus Fraser and Jakob Maiwald finished 18th and 19th, respectively. Fraser ran a personal-best 8:43.49, while Maiwald also set a personal best with 8:43.56.
Jory Lee placed 13th in the long jump, navigating a crowded field of entrants. The junior recorded a personal-best leap of 6.52 meters (21 feet, 4.72 inches), vaulting him into seventh place in program history. Jackson Juzang finished 25th with a jump of 6.12 meters (20 feet, 1 inch), while Mark Tringas cleared 6.20 meters (20 feet, 4 inches) in the open competition.
In the 400-meter dash, Vir Goyal paced the Fords with a 92nd-place finish (53.53). Goyal also competed in the 200 meters, setting a personal best of 23.77 to place 64th. Samuel Lin finished 78th with a personal-best 23.73, while Zenas Boamah (23.77) and Niko Beros (23.83) placed 82nd and 84th, respectively. Beros made his collegiate debut in the event.
Micah Lachman finished 23rd in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.52, narrowly missing his personal best. Reef Kirchner followed in 29th with a personal-best 1:59.40, while Reed Solomon placed 46th in 2:01.23.
Beros led the way in the 60 meters, finishing 36th with a personal-best 7.37. Nico Greene followed in 43rd with a personal-best 7.40. Juzang (55th, 7.49), Tringas (64th, 7.55), and Nathan Ma (66th, personal-best 7.58) rounded out Haverford's competitors, with Juzang and Tringas making their collegiate debuts in the event.
Haverford returns to action Saturday at the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus. Competition begins with the weight throw at 9 a.m., followed by track events at 10 a.m.
