Men's Basketball Foiled by Arcadia, 75-50

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Haverford College men's basketball team (4–2) suffered its second defeat of the season on Wednesday night, falling to Arcadia (5–2) by a score of 75–50 under the lights of Alumni Gymnasium on the campus of Arcadia University. Despite a strong 32-point effort from the bench, the Fords were unable to overcome Arcadia's 44 points in the paint and 14 steals, which proved decisive in the Knights' victory.

Arcadia opened the game on a 7–0 run before Haverford registered its first field goal, taking advantage of two early turnovers and controlling the offensive glass to generate multiple second-chance opportunities. A three-pointer from Emmanuel Cheung Hernandez finally got the Fords on the board with 17:14 remaining, trimming the margin to 7–3 after Arcadia had already secured two offensive rebounds. Haverford responded with its strongest stretch of the half midway through the period, as the second unit provided an important spark. A 7–0 run-featuring Cheung Hernandez's free throws, a three from Raja Coleman, and a transition finish by Cheung Hernandez-brought the Fords within 16–12 with 10:38 left. However, Arcadia regained control with a 9–5 run fueled by the interior scoring of Jamison Lynam, whose efficiency around the rim consistently challenged Haverford's defense. Despite a late layup from Tyler Nolan and free throws from Alex George, the Fords entered halftime trailing 34–24 after narrowly missing a three from Nolan at the buzzer.

Arcadia once again asserted itself early in the second half, knocking down back-to-back threes from Joshua Okocha and Lynam to push the lead to 40–24 less than two minutes into the period. Haverford attempted to chip away, highlighted by a Varghese corner three at the 13:23 mark and a transition layup from Seth Anderson following a steal by Niko Rizos, narrowing the deficit to 55–35 midway through the half. Yet Arcadia's pressure-driven transition game and steady paint production widened the margin once more. A decisive late-game sequence beginning at the 2:33 mark saw the Knights score three straight baskets off run-outs and turnovers-including a Lynam fast-break layup and a dunk by Jackson-stretching the advantage to a game-high 75–46. Haverford closed the night with a pair of free throws and a fast-break finish from Ho, but Arcadia's edge in second-chance points (14–5), fast-break points (17–5), and points in the paint (44–24) ultimately sealed the 75–50 result.

Cheung Hernandez led Haverford with nine points and three steals, contributing on both ends of the floor. Adam Strong-Jacobson added four blocks and converted four free throws, providing valuable rim protection. Rizos recorded a team-high seven rebounds and added four points, while Coleman chipped in six points-all from beyond the arc.

Lynam paced Arcadia with a game-high 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting, adding five steals in an all-around effort. Okocha followed with 13 points and six rebounds, while Darius Isaac contributed eight points, three steals, and five assists. Josh Parks added 10 points, matched Okocha's six rebounds, and collected two steals.

Haverford will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 6, when it travels to Aston, Pennsylvania, to face Neumann. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
