Women’s Basketball Opens 2025-26 with Resounding 86-42 Win over Keystone

LA PLUME, Pa. — The Haverford College women's basketball team (1-0) opened its 2025–26 season in dominant fashion, defeating Keystone College (0-1) by a score of 86-42 on Saturday at Ace Spalding Arena. The 86-point effort ranks as the fourth-highest single-game scoring performance in program history.

The Fords raced ahead with a 34-7 first quarter, controlled the pace throughout, and showcased a stifling defensive performance that forced 21 turnovers and produced 15 steals. Haverford also owned the interior with 40 points in the paint and added 22 fast-break points.

Haverford wasted no time taking control, as Caroline Orza buried a three-pointer just 13 seconds into the contest. Orza stayed hot for the remainder of the quarter, pouring in 14 points and setting the tone offensively. Brianna Feifer contributed on both ends with key rebounds and a three-pointer, while Keystone struggled to generate momentum, making just 3-of-16 field goal attempts. The Fords capitalized on early miscues, turning the Giants' turnovers into 12 first-quarter points, and entered the second up 34-7.

The Scarlet and Black continued their efficient play in the second quarter, outscoring Keystone 22-11. Audrey Jakway provided steady scoring inside, including a layup at 1:41 off a feed from Alyssa Aslam, in Aslam's collegiate debut. Orza added a transition three-pointer at 4:41 on an assist from Shae Mercer, keeping Haverford in control. Keystone's Aaliyah Barnes hit a three at 4:05, but the hosts struggled to keep pace as the Scarlet and Black extended its advantage.

Haverford pushed further ahead in the third quarter with a 21-15 edge. Jakway and Orza continued to find success in the paint, while Mercer added a fast-break layup at 6:29. Though Barnes and Jayda Price chipped in points for Keystone, the Giants could not slow down the Fords' balanced scoring. Keystone's Tayana Bibbins added a late layup, but the Scarlet and Black entered the fourth quarter firmly ahead.

The final period played a bit more even at 9-9, as Haverford closed out the commanding road win. First-year Georgia Koff-Gilmore notched a fast-break layup in her collegiate debut following a steal at 7:55. The Giants added free throws from Phaneirra Barnett and Hailee Hackett, but Jakway maintained the Fords' substantial margin with two free throws. First-year Bri Heafy capped the scoring with a late three-pointer—also in her collegiate debut—off a Jakway assist.

Orza delivered a career-high 33 points, knocking down six three-pointers and adding two steals. Feifer posted 15 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, while Mercer recorded a double-double with 10 assists and 10 rebounds, along with four steals. Jakway rounded out Haverford's trio of double-doubles with 20 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks.

Barnes led Keystone with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Price contributed seven points, six rebounds, and four assists. Aaliyah Pharr added defensive energy with three steals.

Haverford now returns home to Gooding '84 Arena for its next matchup, hosting Rutgers–Camden on Tuesday, November 11, at 7:30 p.m.
