Men's Basketball Takes Down Immaculata, 88-81

IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Haverford College men's basketball team (3–1) earned its third win of the season on Wednesday night, defeating Immaculata (1–3), 88–81, inside Alumnae Hall. The Fords led by nine at halftime and used a pivotal 10–2 run early in the second half to build a 17-point cushion before holding off a late Mighty Macs' surge. Haverford finished with six players in double figures while outrebounding Immaculata 56–41 and converting 36 points in the paint .

Haverford opened the scoring with an early three from Carter Warren, but Immaculata responded quickly as Christian Chambers knocked down a transition triple off a turnover to give the hosts a 3–0 lead just 31 seconds into the game . The teams traded punches through the opening minutes, with Uremovich finishing inside and Tyler Nolan connecting from deep to help the Fords build a 10–7 lead. Immaculata countered with a stretch highlighted by Idan Zuker's fastbreak three at the 12:47 mark, giving the Macs their largest advantage of the night at 21–16 .

The Fords seized momentum with an 11–0 run midway through the half, sparked by a flurry of perimeter shooting. Warren drilled consecutive three-pointers—one coming off an offensive rebound and kick-out from Alex George—to vault Haverford ahead 29–23 with just over ten minutes remaining. Nolan added another triple moments later, and Uremovich converted a second-chance layup in the closing seconds of the period. His tip-in at the first-half buzzer capped a 10-point opening frame for the junior and sent the Fords into the locker room with a 49–40 lead .

Haverford's advantage at intermission was fueled by seven made threes, 18 points in the paint, and a 30–17 rebounding edge. Warren scored 15 first-half points going 5-for-6 from beyond the arc, while Strong-Jacobson added five rebounds, matching Seth Anderson for the team lead.

The Fords broke the game open early in the second half with a decisive 10–2 run. Nolan opened the period with a three to extend the lead to 52–40, and Uremovich added a steal moments later to set up a transition opportunity. Raja Coleman buried a pull-up three in rhythm at the 17:00 mark, and Emmanuel Cheung Hernandez capped the run with a driving layup off a turnover to push the margin to 59–42—Haverford's largest lead of the night with 16:26 remaining .

Immaculata mounted its strongest response with an 8–0 burst midway through the period. Jayden Williams scored on back-to-back fastbreak layups following Ford turnovers, and Chambers struck again from deep in transition to trim the deficit to 62–60 with 10:59 to play, forcing a Haverford timeout . The Mighty Macs' pressure defense produced five turnovers during a three-minute stretch that narrowed the contest to a single possession.

The Fords, however, steadied itself out of the timeout. Strong-Jacobson muscled in a layup to halt the run, and Uremovich added another finish at the rim plus a free-throw to rebuild a seven-point gap. Coleman delivered the dagger with 7:43 remaining, pulling up for a deep three on the break to restore a 10-point lead at 70–60 and stall Immaculata's momentum once again .

A late push from the hosts, including a three from Chambers and a second-chance triple from Marquis Peoples, brought the margin to seven in the final minute. But Coleman connected from long range once more with just 50 seconds remaining, before the Scarlet and Black closed out the game at the free-throw line to secure the 88–81 victory .

Warren paced the Fords with 17 points, knocking down five of his six attempts from long range, while Uremovich added 16 points in the paint. Coleman chipped in 12 points with three momentum-swinging threes after halftime, and both Nolan and Strong-Jacobson contributed 11 points, with the latter grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. Haverford controlled the glass and produced 13 second-chance points, helping to offset 11 turnovers and Immaculata's 39 points off the bench.

Chambers paced the Mighty Macs with 14 points, while Crews added a game-high 18. Zuker contributed nine off the bench, and Peoples recorded six rebounds and seven points.

In their next game, Haverford will host DelVal on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. at Gooding '84 Arena in Haverford, Pennsylvania.
