Men's Soccer Pushes Unbeaten Run to 18 Matches in Scoreless Draw at F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. — The Haverford College men's soccer team (9-0-9, 2-0-6 CC) extended its program-record unbeaten streak to 18 straight matches with a 0-0 draw at Franklin & Marshall (3-10-3, 1-5-2 CC) on Saturday afternoon at Tylus Field.

The match between Haverford and Franklin & Marshall began with Haverford taking the offensive initiative. Thomas Vanni's early corner kick in the ninth minute and multiple shots on goal, including attempts by Charles Sharp and Jonathan D'Amour, highlighted Haverford's persistent attack in the early goings. Despite their efforts, Haverford could not convert these opportunities into a score, with Diplomats goalkeeper Nolan Booth making crucial saves. As the half progressed, both teams exchanged  shots, with Haverford's Andrew Fritz and Jack Bonner testing the opposing net.

Haverford created multiple opportunities in the second half, beginning with a Sharp attempt in the 48th minute that was turned aside by Franklin & Marshall goalkeeper Davis Rorick. Despite steady pressure — including efforts from Gabe Knopf, Thomas Vanni, and Aaron Park — the Fords' attack was repeatedly denied by the Diplomats' defense and goalkeeping efforts. On the other end, Grayson Benson came up with key saves in the 60th and 69th minutes to preserve the shutout. The match ended scoreless, as neither side was able to capitalize on its chances.

Haverford continued to apply pressure after the break, as Sharp, Vanni, Knopf, and Park all registered second-half attempts. Despite the Fords' consistent possession and attacking presence, Franklin & Marshall's goalkeeper turned away multiple efforts to preserve the draw.

Grayson Benson anchored the Haverford defense with three saves to earn his ninth shutout of the season. Vanni led the offense with four shots, including two on goal, while Sharp fired five attempts to keep the F&M back line under constant pressure.

With the draw, the Fords remain firmly in the Centennial Conference playoff race and now turn their focus to a pivotal matchup next Saturday, November 1, when they host Hood Trophy rival Swarthmore on Walton Field. The Senior Day showdown carries major postseason implications, with kickoff set for 3 p.m.
