HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's tennis program hosted its annual alumni match on Saturday, September 14 welcoming back 28 alums and former coaches for some friendly competition to open the 2024 fall season.
The varsity roster won the David Kong '20 Memorial Trophy for the second consecutive seaosn as they controlled things against the alums in dominating fashion, winning 30-2 and improving to an overall record of 13-10. The alumni triumphs came in doubles, where the formidable duo of Ishaan Prinz and Kevin Yan got past Chait Krishna and Maxfield Ma in a spirited tiebreaker. Nick Sweeney took a victory over Max Beckwith in another intense singles matchup for the other alumni win.
The alumni team consisted of Ken Norris '74, former head coach Sean Sloane, Abhinav Nallapareddy '23, Adam Branovan '20, Adam Chow '24, Alex Buxbaum '09, Andy Dougherty '14, Ankur Arya '12, Bruce Nisbet '95, Dave Merrell '09, George Jiang '22, Ishaan Prinz '18, Jackson Trevor '22, Jeff Monhait '09, Josh Moskovitz '19, Jun Mo '21, Kevin Yan '20, Kirin Eicher '24, Luis Acaba '16, Marc Adelberg '08, Marc Rudolph '09, Nick Sweeney '19, Patrick Kley '22, Raja Arul '20, Scott Kozarsky '21, Stephen Feder '09, and Thomas Kinrade '09.
Haverford now returns to action on Friday, September 20 right back at the Bramall/Marshall Courts as Haverford welcomes the Brewers of Vassar in for a 4 p.m. first serve to officially kick off the fall season with the Haverford Invitational.
