HAVERFORD – Haverford College dominated visiting Franklin
& Marshall College, 9-0, in a Centennial Conference women's
tennis match Saturday afternoon on the Fords' Marshall Courts.
The win was the fourth in-a-row for the Fords who run their
overall record to 10-1 and league mark to 4-1. The Diplomats fall
to 0-9 and 0-3, respectively.
After sweeping through doubles capturing all three matches, the
Fords turned on the heat winning each of the six singles points in
straight set victories.
The Fords failed to surrender a game in two of the singles
matches, and in each of the other four duels they allowed the Dips
to accumulate no more than a pair of game victories.
Five Fords picked up both a doubles and singles victory led by
Katie
Wettick's wins in the No. 1 slot of both. Alex Ferrara won at
No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles, Helen Fisun added a
win at No. 3 doubles to go with her victory at No. 3 singles. Katie
Drooyan won at No. 4 singles and teamed with Kate Donches, who
won at No. 5 singles, to pick up the No. 2 doubles point.
The Fords head to Allentown, Pa., for their next match taking on
host Muhlenberg College (3-1 in the league entering Saturday's
action) at 4 p.m. on April 5 for another conference contest.
