Lions roar past baseball, 13-0

EWING, N.J. – Ten runs in the first two innings, combined with the complete game shutout by Connor Henderson helped the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) defeat the Haverford College baseball team 13-0 Friday afternoon.

Henderson (3-0) limited the Haverford (6-4) offense to four hits over nine innings, striking out 10, and walking just one. The right-hander allowed just two baserunners from the third inning on.

TCNJ (5-7) wasted no time generating offense as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded up on three walks, James Ruzich took advantage by stroking a double to right-center field. TCNJ plated more before the inning was over and came back with six runs in the bottom of the second.

Jonny Williams (1-1) was tagged with the loss. He lasted just 1.1 innings, giving up eight earned runs on six hits. The Fords' bullpen did a respectable job as Adam Lewis, Ben Regan and Kyle Hayden combined to throw 6.2 innings and allowed just three runs.

Charlie Carluccio, Avi Wolfman-Arent, Bobby Hubley and Jake Chaplin all had base-hits for Haverford.

Mike Galeotafiore went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a run batted in. Ruzich also had a big day going 3-fo-4 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Nick Cifelli laced a pair of hits while driving in four runs.

The Fords are back at it Saturday, hosting Susquehanna University in a doubleheader. Game 1 starts at 12:30 p.m.
