BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball
team used a balance attack in a 50-34 Centennial Conference win at
Bryn Mawr College on Saturday afternoon.
The Fords outshot (37 percent to 31%) and out-rebounded (43-35)
the Owls, while Bryn Mawr turned the ball over 23 times (to
Haverford's 16).
With the victory, Haverford jumps to 5-2, 2-2 CC, while Bryn
Mawr remains winless with a 0-5, 0-4 CC record.
As she has done all season, junior Dominique
Meeks led the Fords with a double-double (16 points and 11
boards), while Bryn Mawr's Nicolette Parmese (17 points, 11
rebounds) led all scorers.
The Fords jumped out to a 14-2 lead to start things off,
and reached their largest advantage with 21 points (29-8) in the
sixth minute of the first half.
The Fords charged ahead 32-17 at the break.
The Owls' Taytiana Welch hit a jumper at 15:40 in the second
half as Haverford led 38-23 and the game remained scoreless for the
next four minutes until sophomore Hope Rainey
knocked down a free-throw. Rainey completed the afternoon with nine
points. The Fords would roll from there, keeping a healthy lead for
the remainder of the period to secure a 50-34 win.
Welcoming Ursinus College to Gooding Arena, the Fords play next
on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.
