GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College men's basketball
team could not hold on in a 64-41 loss at Gettysburg College on
Dec. 3 in Centennial Conference action. Despite the Fords leading
for the first 12 minutes of action, Gettysburg pulled ahead with 58
percent field goal shooting to take the win.
Haverford suffered its second conference loss and go to
1-5, 1-2 CC, while Gettysburg holds a 4-3, 2-1 conference
record.
Haverford junior Cam Baker led
the Fords with 12 points, while sophomore Brett Cohen
added 11 points and five boards for the Fords. Gettysburg was led
by Christian Bors with 14 points.
From the get-go, the Fords pulled ahead, leading by as many as
six in the first half (19-13 in the 10th minute).
However, Gettysburg pieced together a 15-2 run and eventually held
a 34-24 lead at the half.
In the contest, Haverford was outscored in the paint 36-22 and
off the bench 27-4.
It was more of the same in the second stanza, as Gettysburg
stayed up. Haverford senior Bo Friddell
hit two free throws to put the Fords within four (38-34), but
another home team run, this time 16-2, kept Gettysburg ahead for
the remainder of the contest. Friddell finished with six points,
while fellow senior Ian Goldberg
notched seven and three boards for Haverford.
The Fords season continues at home on
Wednesday, Dec.7 against Ursinus College at 8 p.m. in
Gooding Arena.
