Men's tennis falls to Lions 5-4 in finale

EWING, N.J. – The Haverford College men's tennis team lost to The College of New Jersey, 5-4, Tuesday afternoon to close out the 2010 season. Haverford won two out of three doubles matches, but could manage just two wins in singles.

Kevin Caulfield and Danny Himelstein were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 8-6. Matthew Cebul and Natty Sergay picked up another point for the Fords with an 8-6 win at the No. 3 spot. The point at No. 2 came down to a tiebreaker as T.J. Riley and Dean Thompson downed Will Garrett and Hailiu Yang, 9-8 (8-6).

At No. 1 singles, Caulfield came back from a first set loss to win the next two; 6-0, 6-1 over Steven Fernandez. Yang won the Fords' other singles point at the No. 2 spot. Like Caulfield, he also lost his first set, but won the second and third sets over Stewart Fernandez.

Haverford ends its season with an 8-6 record while the Lions improve to 9-6.
