ORLANDO, Fla. – The Haverford College women's tennis team opened its spring trip with an 8-1 victory over Drew University Monday afternoon. Haverford swept through doubles and won all five of its singles matches in straight sets.
The Fords got out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a sweep in doubles play. Jaclyn Porter and Katie Wettick won at the No. 1 spot, 8-3. Katie Drooyan and Helen Fisun were victorious, 8-4, at No. 2. Christina Bradley and Fumiko Shogase downed their opponents at No. 3 by an 8-2 count.
Wettick looked impressive at No. 1 singles by shutting out Sarit Ashkenazi, 6-0, 6-0. Fisun's victory at No. 2 clinched the win for Haverford (1-1). Porter, Shogase and Sarah Gibson went on to win their singles matches as well.
The Fords are back at it Tuesday when they take on the University of Rochester at 11 a.m.
